Why WPRL
The WPRL team has experience in a project management capacity of the following offshore wind power projects;
Scroby Sands Offshore Wind Farm - Client E.ON UK
This project (the first on the east coast of the UK) consisted of 30 Vestas V80 turbines each having a capacity of 2.0MW, a total wind farm capacity of 60MW. The management team worked with the E.ON (Powergen) project management in developing the various EPC Contracts, through negotiation, signing and implementation. The project was then managed to a successful commissioning and hand over, on time and under budget. Still the most cost efficient offshore wind farm built to date 60MW for approximately £75 million.
Barrow Offshore Wind Farm - Client 50/50 JV Between Centrica Energy and DONG
This project consists of 30 Vestas V90 turbines, each having a capacity of 3.0MW giving a wind farm capacity of 90MW. The project also included the UK's first offshore transformer platform based on a mono-pile foundation. Not withstanding the turbine manufacturing and initial reliability problems, the management team still managed to complete the job on time and very close to budget for approximately £135 million.
Lynn & Inner Dowsing Wind Farms - Client Centrica Energy
These two projects were combines to allow magnitudes of scale to help with the procurement and sizing of the plant and cabling. The project consisted of 54 Siemens 3.6MW machines giving a total wind farm project capacity of 208.8MW, thus taking advantage of the over capacity at the mid range output of the wind farm and therefore increasing output over the wind range. The project was managed by Centrica Energy with many of WPRL's personnel taking key rolls within the project team.
Greater Gabbard - Client Airtricity
The Greater Gabbard project located off the Suffolk coast and connected to a new onshore substation adjacent to the Sizewell Nuclear Power Station. WPRL worked with the project development team in Covent Garden developing offshore construction strategies, O&M strategies and advised on practicalities for construction sequencing, offshore construction and operations vessels. Worked with the Greater Gabbard team during the EPiC negotiations with Fluor, Siemens and various installation contractors.
Robin Rigg - Client E.ON UK
The Robin Rigg project located in the Solway Firth was completed in 2009 and as with the Scroby Sands project; it was managed by an integrated project team. The project consists of 60 Vestas V90 3.0MW turbines with an offshore substation, total capacity of 180MW. Completed and operational in early 2010 the wind farm is close to being fully commissioned and is currently producing at over 90% availability.
The WPRL Offshore Wind Farm Project Management Team
The management team of a recently successfully completed UK offshore wind farm project have now joined the WPRL team, adding to our project management capabilities and services.
The accumulated knowledge and team structure of the WPRL team will allow WPRL to provide a very robust and effective project management team.
